Process
Dr. Alyshia Galvez, Director of the Lehman College / CUNY Mexican Studies reached out after seeing my work for Javi. She came in with an idea of a product that would help Spanish speaking Mexican families learning about the educational system in NYC. I first did research on the landscape of similar types of product to make sure that nothing like it existed and an idea of how others were solving similar issues.

I then learned this was the first time they undertook a project of this magnitude and their first time working with a designer and developer. I was a significant learning curve from the logistical meetings, concepts, and approvals to understanding what was possible in the short amount of time they had until the launch date.
Outcome
The project has gone very smoothly. I have gotten to work directly with Dr. Galvez to bring her vision to fruition as well as add my own insight and understanding based on my field research with Mexican parents in NYC. Our work on the website landed Dr. Galvez a $100K grant from the Mexican Consulate of the New York to continue her work through the Windows of Opportunity initiative.
